# BE 8253 Basic Electrical Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Previous Year Question Paper

OBJECTIVES:

To impart knowledge on

• Electric circuit laws, single and three phase circuits and wiring.

• Working principles of Electrical Machines.

• Working principle of Various electronic devices and measuring instruments.

### UNIT I ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS

Basic circuit components – Ohms Law – Kirchhoff Law – Instantaneous Power – Conductors – Capacitors – Independent and Dependent Sources – steady state solution of DC circuits – Nodal analysis, Mesh analysis- Thieving Theorem, Norton‘s Theorem, Maximum Power transfer theorem- Linearity and Superposition Theorem.

### UNIT II AC CIRCUITS

Introduction to AC circuits – wave forms and EMS value – power and power factor, single phase and three-phase balanced circuits – Three phase loads – housing wiring, industrial wiring, materials of wiring.

### UNIT III ELECTRICAL MACHINES

Principles of operation and characteristics of ; DC machines, Transformers (single and three phase ) ,Synchronous machines , three phase and single phase induction motors.

### UNIT IV ELECTRONIC DEVICES & CIRCUITS

Types of Materials – Silicon & Germanium- N type and P type materials – P N Junction –Forward and Reverse Bias –Semiconductor Diodes –Bipolar Junction Transistor – Characteristics – Field Effect Transistors – Transistor Biasing –Introduction to operational Amplifier –Inverting Amplifier –Non Inverting Amplifier –D A C – ADC .

### UNIT V MEASUREMENTS & INSTRUMENTATION

Introduction to transducers – Classification of Transducers: Restive, Inductive, Capacities, Thermometric, piezoelectric, photoelectric, Hall effect and Mechanical – ,Classification of instruments – Types of indicating Instruments – multi meters –Oscilloscopes- – three-phase power measurements– instrument transformers (CT and PT ).
